If it was made with WMM then it isn't a DIVX file.
IT is more likely a problem with the rendering from WMM.
You said it worked as a WMV but not as an AVI and you are correct DV-AVI is
the best way to go when you wnat to end up with a DVD unless the project is
all audio and still images in which case you are better off using the High
Quality NTSC/PAL setting.
So lets look at your project and find out where the problem is.
What type(s) of files are you using (extensions)?
How long is the project?
How many transitions?
What are your computer specs?

Post by JimThe AVI files that don't display in WMP are DV-AVI (ntsc) generated by
WMM. I understand (I could be wrong) that is the preferred format to use
in burning DVDs with maximum quality.

Post by Cari (MS-MVP)It could be a DIVX file. The best thing to do is find out with exactly
which codec this AVI has been compressed in the first place.....
Download and install G-Spot Codec Identifier from
http://www.headbands.com/gspot/
If G-Spot tells you it's XVID, you'll need the codecs from
www.xvidmovies.org
