Help! My entire computer has shadows around desktop
icons, boxes, and windows I put on the desktop. I ran a
degauss on my monitor, but that didn't help. I've never
seen this kind of problem before. Can anyone help? I
get a shadow for every text letter and the cursor too, as
well as all action buttons.

Try opening display, advanced, select high color instead
of true color. You might also open system properties,
advanced, chk the boxes pertaining to shadows & icons,
usually all should be checked.

Don't know of any options in any OS that will put shadows around normal
text. However, a cheap cable or a poorly functioning monitor will do
precisely what is described.
